Sound
The Delafields formed in the winter
of 2000. Led by the poetic songwriting of Paul Quaintance and Scott Anderson,
The Delafields are influenced by traditional bluegrass, the groove of early soul
and early American music. Three of the five members of the band, Scott Anderson,
Chris Anderson and Paul Quaintance, hail from New Mexico; and two of the band
members, Eddie Torrez and Wayne Berquist are from the Chicago area. Their music styles
are woven together by the hands of a band who grew up on pop, punk and tejano
music. Altogether it's one of the most toe-tappin', enjoyable sounds available
in the free market music scene.
In addition to Paul on guitar and lead vocals, Scott on guitars and harmonicas, band contributions come from Eddie--an accordion-playing celebrity around Chicago-- and his Tex-Mex boogie woogie piano stlyings. The rhythm section of The Delafields is comprised of Chris on drums and Wayne on bass. This stalwart tandem provides a solid foundation for the mighty tunes of The Delafields.

Comings about
Four of the five members of The Delafields were part of the '90's popular Chicago
pop rock group, Milhous. After the lead singer left Milhous in 2000, the band
regrouped with Paul on lead vocals and guitar. Paul fit perfectly in the band
leading with a fresh new sound for the band driven by great groove and country
sounds.
After rehearsing for a few months they tried to figure out a name for themselves. Over beers at the Long Room on Irving Park in Chicago, Paul mentioned he was struck by a line in To Kill A Mockingbird that read, "The Truth is Not in the Delafields," referring to a family in the neighborhood of Scout's. This satisfied everyone in the band and so it was to be The Delafields.
